BATTLE OF THE RINGS CHAMPION 2021- ARTEMIS RING by ROOZBEH RASTEGAR

Artemis Ring by Roozbeh Rastegar

Artist: Roozbeh Rastegar
Materials: sterling silver, fine silver, enamel
Size: 9.5
Dimensions: 45 X 15 mm

This ring from the “Optical Illusion” collection of Rooz Jewellry was hand fabricated using fold forming and anticlastic rising techniques. It is hollow and hand forged and created as part of Roozbeh Rastegar's final year thesis at George Brown College in Toronto. It has a triangular profile on one end transitioning to a flat side on the other end. On the triangular side, there is an actual 3-dimensional pyramid constructed in sterling silver but on the flat end, there is an enameled flat triangle cleverly imitating the 3-D side. By creating a 3-dimensional quality on a totally flat surface, the ring is designed to trick the viewers' eye, inspiring an "AHA'' moment, when the audience realizes that what they see is not what they thought in the beginning. The design reminds us to not always accept what we sees upon first glance. Enjoy Roozbeh's process shots from creating the 18k version of the “Artemis Ring”!
